Our Mission
Provide education and assistance to the residents of Clayton County to inspire them to make positive decisions regarding substances and choices and to ultimately lead healthy lives.

SASCC is governed by a board of nine Clayton County, Iowa, residents and incorporated in the State of Iowa.  The agency is funded by federal, state and county money along with donations and fees from municipalities, schools and individuals.

SASCC was founded in 1981 by a group of county citizens concerned about the misuse and abuse of substances.  Since this time we have remained locally based and operated, locally responsive and supportive.

PnP3-logo-sm“The Iowa Register of Accountability on the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center website is a voluntary listing of charitable nonprofits that have committed themselves to continuous improvement by implementing the Principles and Practices as general guidelines. The purpose of the Register is to show Iowa and the nation that Iowa nonprofits make a concerted effort to operate efficiently, effectively and ethically. The Register was recommended by The Governor‘s Task Force on the Role of Charitable Nonprofit Organizations in Iowa.”

Our Philosophy
is that strong community leadership is necessary to build the momentum and encourage community investment in the solution of its social and health problems.  This is particularly true in the struggle against substance abuse.

Our vision
SASCC will make a positive impact on the residents of Clayton County by offering accurate information, proven programming and support services which best meet the needs of Clayton County and the surrounding area.
